Day 2. Lima - Guayaquil - Cuenca

This morning we fly to enchanting Ecuador. We'll travel through the stunning highlands of El Cajas National Park to Cuenca. Tonight we'll enjoy a group welcome dinner. [B,D]

Day 3. Cuenca - Guamote

On a walking tour of the town we'll visit the Cathedral, churches, a flower market and stroll along the Tomebamba River. We'll also visit a Panama hat-making factory. [B]

Day 4. Guamote

We board the famous train to the Devil’s Nose, one of Ecuador’s best rail journeys. [B,D]

Day 5. Guamote - Baños

Special Experience: This morning we meet the staff and children of the Inti Sisa educational centre.

Then it’s a trip to the Guamote Market to witness the hundreds of 'campesinos' in their traditional red, pink and green dress as they come to trade before we drive to Baños via Chimborazo Volcano National Park. [B,L]

We venture into the rainforest on a typical Chiva bus and take a short hike to the imposing Devil’s Cauldron waterfall. [B,L]

Day 7. Baños - Otavalo

Today we make our way to Otavalo, famous for its colourful textiles and Handicraft Market. Our accommodation for the next two nights is in a beautiful historic hacienda. [B,D]

Day 8. Otavalo

Special Experience: Board the Libertad Train in Ibarra and enjoy one of the most beautiful train rides in Ecuador, travelling through the cloud forest to Salinas. [B]

Day 9. Otavalo - Papallacta

We take a picturesque journey through the Andes, stopping for brunch at a beautiful hacienda and rose plantation. We’ll arrive in volcanic Papallacta, famous for its hot springs, in the early afternoon. [B]

Day 10. Papallacta - Quito

The morning is at leisure for you to relax and enjoy a soak in the hot springs before we travel down through the valley to Quito, Ecuador’s capital. [B]

Day 11. Quito - Lima

This morning we explore the colonial ‘Old Town’ of Quito. We’ll also stop at the ‘Middle of the World’ to stand with one foot on each side of the equator. [B]

Day 12. Lima - Amazon Jungle

After our morning flight to Iquitos, it’s just a short boat ride along the famous Amazon River to reach our jungle lodge. This afternoon we head out on a piranha fishing excursion and see the incredible Victoria Regia lilies, up to 3m in diameter. [B,L,D]

Day 13. Amazon Jungle

Special Experience: Begin the day with a canopy walk through the treetops in the Sucusari Reserve. We also visit a local shaman to learn about the medicinal uses of many of the local plants. [B,L,D]

Day 14. Amazon Jungle

After breakfast we cruise to a local Yagua village for a cultural demonstration. Keep an eye out for pink dolphins along the way! This afternoon we’ll visit Monkey Island. [B,L,D]

Day 15. Amazon Jungle - Cusco

The morning is at leisure before we fly to Cusco. [B]

Day 16. Cusco

This morning we visit the fortress of Sacsayhuaman and explore the San Pedro Market. Later on a walking tour we’ll see the Cathedral of Santo Domingo and Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun. [B]

Day 17. Cusco - Sacred Valley

We travel into the incredible Sacred Valley, stopping to meet the herds of llamas, alpacas and vicuñas in Awanacancha and to visit the impressive ruins and lively market of Pisac. [B]

Day 18. Sacred Valley

This morning we explore the archaeological ruins of Ollantaytambo. We’ll also visit the salt ponds at Maras and terraces of Moray. [B]

Special Experience:Enjoy a traditional chicha and taste some guinea pig (a regional delicacy) at a local chicheria.

Day 19. Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu

A magical day as we travel by train through the Sacred Valley to the legendary Lost City of the Incas - Machu Picchu! [B,D]

Day 20. Machu Picchu - Cusco

Why not return to Machu Picchu for an optional second visit this morning? We'll then return to Cusco, stopping in Chinchero for a traditional weaving demonstration. [B]

Day 22. Cusco - Lake Titicaca
