Day 1: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Prepare yourself for adventure. Meet the group and start your trip in the town of Victoria Falls, aptly named after Africa’s most scenic waterfall. You won’t be running out of options here with bungy jumping, gorge-swinging, white water rafting and sunset cruises on the Zambezi River on offer. Phew! What a way to start! Day 2: Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park
Today we leave Victoria Falls and head for the world-famous Hwange National Park. Zimbabwe's largest and best known game park covers an area of over 14,600 square kilometres and is particularly known for its elephant population as well as over 100 mammal species including Africa's Big Five (leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo). Later in the afternoon, we head out for a game drive in hope of spotting an abundance of wildlife in the park before returning to our camp at dusk. Day 3: Hwange National Park to Bulawayo
Departing Hwange National Park we drive south for Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city. Stroll the tree-lined avenues, brimming with colonial architecture and wide open spaces, and be sure to check out the city’s fascinating National History Museum, which recounts much of Zimbabwe’s traditional and colonial past. Near the Old Town Hall, there’s a lively curio market where you can test your bartering skills and admire local handicrafts and artwork that are on display. Day 4: Bulawayo to Matobo National Park
Channel your inner explorer today as we head into the impressive Matobo National Park with our local guides. The wind-sculptured Matobo Hills are the site of numerous Bushman paintings, so there’s no surprise the area holds a special cultural and spiritual importance to the indigenous people. The reserve has the largest concentration of black and white rhino in Africa and, provided conditions are right, our guides will lead us on foot to some of the more concealed places in search of these magnificent animals. Day 5: Bulawayo to Tshipise, South Africa
Say Buh-Bye to Bulawayo as we shimmy north through South Africa’s lush countryside to Tshipise. Meals: -Breakfast -Lunch -Dinner
Day 6: Tshipise to Kruger National Park
You came to see animals, right? Today it’s all about the famed Kruger National Park, passing panoramic scenery and dramatic escarpment views. From the dwarf mongoose to the ‘Big Five’, almost every major African mammal (over 145 species) is free to roam the enormous area of the park, which also boasts prolific birdlife and over 330 varieties of trees. Over two nights within the Kruger area, we have the chance to enjoy the spectacle of Shangaan tribal dancing and singing, as well as a full day game drive in the park itself to spot as many animals as possible. Day 7: Kruger National Park
Have your binoculars at the ready, for today we hope to catch a glimpse of as much of Africa’s diverse wildlife as we can. Day 8: Kruger National Park to Xai Xai, Mozambique
Farewell Kruger and prepare to head south to Xai Xai for our a night along the lush coastline of Mozambique. The town of Xai Xai is situated on the banks of the stunning Limpopo River, which flows in a wide, fertile plain where predominantly rice is cultivated. Our accommodation is situated on the stretch of the Xai Xai beach, which has a coral reef running parallel to the shore, offering superb snorkelling and swimming opportunities. Day 9: Xai Xai to Vilanculos
Today we leave paradise for more paradise and travel down this dramatic scenic coast via Inhambane to Tofo where we will spend the next two nights. Tofo is a small beach town with gorgeous open beaches, famous for humpback whale sighting from June through to October. Day 10: Vilanculos
Today we take a traditional Dhow boat safari to Magaruque Island, the third island in the archipelago and the closest to stunning Vilanculos. Enjoy this captivating spot your own way, with bucket loads of activities on offer like snorkelling, swimming and nature-walking. Catch some African rays as you hike to the ruins of a 19th century fort, and indulge in a mouth-watering local seafood lunch under the shady palm fringes. Day 11: Vilanculos to Inhambane
Today we leave Vilanculos paradise behind and travel down this dramatic scenic coast via Inhambane to Tofo where we will spend the next two nights. Meals: -Breakfast -Lunch -Dinner Optional activities: -Scuba diving -Horse riding -Kayaking -Windsurfing
Day 12: Inhambane
Take advantage of the naturally stunning surrounds by setting out on a jam packed day of optional horse riding, snorkelling and scuba diving. The natural vegetation of the coastal plain is dune forest, which has mostly been replaced by millions of coconut palms, planted by the Portuguese and local Bitonga to supply the thriving copra trade. Tofo is also home to loads of fun-loving bars and restaurants, where you can sample the local seafood and throw back bottles of 2M (the local beer) which the area is famous for. When motivation creeps in, venture into Inhambane, the second oldest town in Mozambique to enjoy its local market. Day 13: Inhambane to Komatipoort, South Africa
Drag your feet as we shuffle out of paradise and onwards to Komatipoort to continue the adventure. Meals: -Breakfast -Lunch -Dinner
Day 14: Komatipoort to Johannesburg
