Welcome to Jordan. You will be met and transferred to your hotel before a city sightseeing tour, including the Citadel and Roman Theatre. [D]

Day 2. Jerash Excursion

Today visit the beautifully preserved Roman cities of Umm Qais and Jerash and the impressive Ajloun Castle. The castle is located on the site of an old monastery and was built in 1184. It once controlled traffic along the road connecting Damascus and Egypt. [B]

Day 3. Amman - Madaba - Dead Sea

Travel to Madaba this morning, visiting the Greek Orthodox Church of St George and the biblical site of Mt Nebo. Continue south to the Dead Sea - the lowest point on Earth. The salt content of the water here is four times that of most oceans, so you can float without even trying. Take a dip and cover your body in its therapeutic mud, said to have amazing benefits for skin. [B,L,D]

Day 4. Dead Sea - Wadi Rum

Day 5. Wadi Rum - Petra

An early start for an exciting jeep tour guided by local Bedouin tribesmen. En route to Petra this afternoon, stop to visit the ruins of "Little Petra". [B]

Day 6. Petra

Discover the famous Lost City of Petra today. Carved into the sheer rockface by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago, it was an important junction for the silk and spice trade routes that linked the Eastern world with that of the West. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow, 800m-long gorge, flanked on either side by soaring cliffs. [B]

Day 7. Petra - Dana

An opportunity to visit Petra again before travelling to the spectacular Dana Natural Reserve to walk a section of the Dana Village trail. [B,D]

Drive to Kerak along the Wadi Araba Road to the magnificent Crusader fortress of Kerak. Continue to Amman before an evening cooking class and dinner at a local restaurant. [B,D]
