Day 1. Amman

Welcome to Jordan. You will be met and transferred to your hotel before a city sightseeing tour, including the Citadel, Roman Theatre and some free time to explore the souq. [D]

Day 2. Jerash Excursion

Today visit the beautifully preserved Roman cities of Umm Qais and Jerash and the impressive Ajloun Castle. The castle is located on the site of an old monastery and was built in 1184. It once controlled traffic along the road connecting Damascus and Egypt. [B]

Day 3. Desert Castles Excursion

Drive out into the desert today to discover the famous desert castles of Qasr A-Kharrana, Quseir Amra and the black basalt fort at Azraq. [B]

Day 4. Amman - Dead Sea

Heading out of Amman, stop in the city of Madaba, where you'll visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St George. Then travel to the biblical site of Mt Nebo, where Moses is said to have been shown the Promised Land. Continue south to the Dead Sea - the lowest point on Earth. The salt content of the water here is four times that of most oceans, so you can float without even trying. Take a dip and cover your body in the therapeutic mud, said to have amazing benefits for skin. [B,L,D]

Day 5. Dead Sea - Wadi Rum

This morning continue south to Wadi Rum. Later take a camel ride through the unique landscape carved by nature: the natural rock bridges, towering rose sand dunes and vast peaks are stunning. Spend the night in a Bedouin style desert camp under a blanket of stars. [B,L,D]

Day 6. Wadi Rum - Petra

An early start for an exciting jeep tour guided by local Bedouin tribesmen. En route to Petra this afternoon, stop to visit the ruins of "Little Petra". [B]

Day 7. Petra

Discover the famous Lost City of Petra today. Carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago, it was an important junction for the silk and spice trade routes that linked the Eastern world with that of the West. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow, 800m-long gorge, flanked on either side by soaring cliffs. [B]

Day 8. Petra - Amman

An opportunity to visit Petra again before returning to Amman via the magnificent Crusader fortress of Kerak. [B,D]
