Today we fly to the holy city of Varanasi, the spiritual home of Hinduism and the cultural capital of India. [B]
Special Experience: This evening we take a rickshaw down to the holy Ganges River to observe the aarti prayer ceremony, performed at Dashashvamedh Ghat daily at sunset.
We start the day with a boat ride on the Ganges. As the sun rises we’ll watch the devotees who come to perform their purification rituals. [B]
Enjoy the morning at leisure before our flight to Khajuraho. This evening we’ll experience a garden sound and light show which traces the story of these unique temples from the 10th century to the present day. [B]
Today we’ll explore Khajuraho’s Chandella Dynasty temples. Originally about 85 temples were constructed, 20 of which still exist today. Some of these structures are amongst India’s greatest works of art. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to relax or explore at your own pace. [B]
This morning we depart for Orchha, stopping at a rural farm along the way to get an insight into day-to-day life. Upon arrival in Orchha, we visit the Jehangir Mahal, Raj Mahal and the famous Raja Ram Temple, which dates back to the 17th century. [B]
Today we make our way to Agra, home of the incredible Taj Mahal. [B]
Special Experience: Visit Gwalior Fort, an impressive 8th-century hill fortress with a perfumed underground pool, then board the Gatimaan Express train to Agra.
Watch the sun rise this morning over the breathtaking Taj Mahal, coating it in a pearly-pink mist. We’ll also explore Agra Fort, known for its fine Mughal architecture, and then step back in time visiting Baby Taj, otherwise known as the Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. [B]
A note on Taj Mahal renovations: For the past two years the iconic Taj Mahal has been undergoing a mud-pack therapy treatment to clean and protect its ivory-white surface. The restoration process is nearing the end, however some restoration may continue into 2019.
As we travel to Ranthambore National Park, we’ll stop to visit the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. We’ll then take a short journey on the local train to Sawai Madhopur and continue by road into Ranthambore. [B,D]
Famous for its tigers, Ranthambore National Park is our destination today. We’ll head out on a safari by shared Canter vehicle in search of these beautiful predators in their natural environment. [B,L,D]
Our search for tigers continues this morning. We’ll also try to spot leopards, hyenas, jackals, porcupines, crocodiles, deer and gazelle. After lunch we depart for the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur. Jaipur is a bustling capital city, a business centre and a metropolis that still manages to retain its age-old charm. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. [B,L,D]
Special Experience: Tonight we’ll interact with a local family during a traditional cooking lesson, then join them for dinner.
Our day in the Rajasthani capital begins at majestic Amber Fort. One of the most exquisite creations in the Amber Fort is the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors); its walls are covered with tiny mirrors and when dark can become a dazzling fantasy with the light of a single match. This afternoon, we drive through the famous Johari Bazaar on the way to the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - a major landmark of the city. Later we visit the rich and prosperous museums located inside the elegant City Palace Complex and the ancient Jantar Mantar Observatory. [B]

Special Experience: Tour a stunning 300 year-old Portuguese mansion and enjoy a decadent five-course lunch, inspired by the flavours of Portugal and India. [B,L]
The morning is at leisure before this afternoon’s flight to Kochi, a vibrant city situated on India’s south-west coast in the scenic state of Kerala. Facing the Arabian Sea, Kochi has one of the finest natural harbours in the world. The older parts of the city are an unlikely blend of medieval Portuguese, Dutch and English country village grafted onto the tropical Malabar Coast. [B]
