From the “Paris of the East” in Bucharest, Romania, to the “Golden City” of Prague, in the Czech Republic, this Danube river cruise is an odyssey of new discoveries to treasure. Begin in Bucharest for a tour of the capital’s boulevards, Arc de Triomphe, Royal Palace Square, and historic sites from a dramatic history.
You’ll sail overnight to St. Gheorghe for an excursion to the Danube Delta at the entrance to the Black Sea. Join a small-boat guided tour of the delta’s rivers, canals, and marshes. Enjoy a special “Kilometer 0” celebration of the mighty Danube’s 2,845km journey from the Black Forest to the Black Sea.

Begin in Budapest, where guided sightseeing acquaints you with the highlights of the vibrant capital of Hungary. See Hers’ Square, and all the famous sights that make this city come to life! Take a visit to Gödöllö royal palace, beloved by Sissi. Set sail on the Danube, take pictures of the impressive Parliament Building as you leave Budapest, and head for Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Here, enjoy a guided walk through the delightful Old Town and visit the gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral. Vienna, Austria, once centre of the Habsburg empire, makes an immediate impression with its lavish Hofburg Imperial Palace and neo-renaissance Vienna Opera House. Enjoy the magnificent views as your river cruise takes you through the picturesque wine region of the Wachau Valley. Visit the impressive Benedictine Abbey of Melk and enjoy a tasting of some of the renowned local wines. In Linz, walk around the Hauptplatz, Austria’s largest medieval square, which forms the center of the city or take an excursion to the Austrian lake region where the Habsburg family members used to go. Take a guided walk around Passau, Germany, known for its maze of narrow cobblestone streets and St. Stephen’s Cathedral—a masterpiece of baroque architecture.

Day 2: BUCHAREST-FETESTI (EMBARKATION).
Beautiful Boulevards and Bold History. CLASSIC - Take a Guided Tour of the Romanian capital city of Bucharest with its tree-lined boulevards and Arc de Triomphe-honouring WWI Romanian soldiers. Day 16: PASSAU-SCHLOGEN OXBOW.
Go for Baroque in Passau-Where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz Rivers Meet. This morning, cruise through the Schlogen Oxbow, a particularly beautiful horsesh-shaped bend of the river. CLASSIC - Join a Guided City Walk to learn more about this beautiful "City of Three Rivers"and follow Habsburg traces. ACTIVE - Follow your Avalon Adventure Host for Hiking from Oberhaus along a trail down to the valley and along Ilz River. Spend a little free time before sailing to Deggendorf to walk the cobblestone streets and galleries of Artists' Alley or peek into St. Stephen's Cathedral to possibly catch a concert rehearsal. Day 15: LINZ, AUSTRIA.

Day 12: BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA.

Day 18: PRAGUE.
Bridges, Books, Crystal & Chocolate-Simple Pleasures and Grand Surprises Around Every Corner.
