Day 1
You will be collected from your accommodation in Windhk between 08:00 and 08:30. Please be ready before this time. We drive north from Windhk passing through some of Namibia's most established commercial farmlands and stopping at quaint towns along the way. Around mid-afternoon we will enter the world-renowned Etosha National Park via Anderson Gate. We game drive our way to Okaukuejo, the main rest camp. Originally the site of a German fort built in 1901, the round watchtower still prominent is a remnant of this. We will check-in and set up camp on arrival. After our evening meal there is more chance to see game at a floodlit waterhole on the boundary of our camp and within an easy walk of a few minutes. Here you will have the chance to watch nocturnal wildlife interactions and possibly spot Black Rhino, lions, giraffe and elephants. Overnight camping. (Approx driving distance 450km).
Day 2
Etosha National Park is one of the most important reserves and game sanctuaries in Africa. It is centred around a massive salt pan 50km wide and 130km long. Perennial springs and waterholes occur within the park allowing the predominantly desert environment to support an incredible diversity of wildlife such as blue wildebeest, springbok, zebra, kudu, giraffe, cheetah, leopard, lion and elephant. We enjoy a full day of game driving today with a break during the hottest part. We leave early from Okaukuejo to enjoy the cool morning air as we game drive our way through to Halali camp, situated in the middle of the park. Along the way we visit several waterholes and are afforded splendid views of the massive Etosha Pan. The game viewing is usually excellent and we have the chance to tick off a few new species that are not normally seen on the Okaukuejo side of the park. We stop at Halali for a rest and a leisurely lunch. There is time to visit the Halali waterhole and to make use of the swimming pool and toilet facilities before continuing our game driving to Namutoni on the eastern side of the park. We must be back at our camp before sunset. Once again, there is a floodlit waterhole to visit after dinner for as long as you are able to stay awake. Overnight camping.
Day 3
This morning we leave Etosha and take a scenic drive back to Windhk, passing through towns and rural areas. We will break our journey in the small town of Okahandja, the home of Namibia's largest wood carving market. The stalls operate on a local co-operative basis and offer a vast array of authentic Namibian souvenirs. We will arrive back in Windhk in the late afternoon / early evening and you will be dropped off at your pre-booked accommodation on return. Note - there is no accommodation tonight included in the trip. Please ask us if you would like assistance to arrange this. Additional cost applies. (Approx driving distance 500km).
