Welcome to Cairo, the sprawling capital of Egypt. This evening we’ll enjoy a group welcome dinner in Giza. [D]
Our touring in Egypt begins at the oldest structures in existence, the amazing Great Pyramids of Giza and the nearby Sphinx. We’ll also visit the ancient capital of Memphis and the incredible Step Pyramid of Sakkara. [B]
Today we visit the 12th century Saladin Citadel of Cairo and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. We’ll then discover the 14th century souk, Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, famous for its handmade crafts. This afternoon we’ll explore the world-famous Egyptian Museum, home to Tutankhamun’s priceless treasures. [B]
This morning we fly to Luxor in Upper Egypt. Here we’ll explore the fascinating Karnak Temple, dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun, and once linked to Luxor Temple by a 3-kilometre-long Avenue of Sphinxes. [B,L,D]
Embark Cruise: This afternoon we board our Nile River cruise ship.
Our first stop today is the Valley of the Kings. We’ll be able to descend into some of the tombs and see the astonishingly well-preserved hieroglyphic paintings. We’ll then discover the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. [B,L,D]
This morning we visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. This beautiful ancient temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt. We’ll then cruise to the riverside Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Harris, before continuing to Aswan. Tonight we’ll experience a traditional galabeya party on board. [B,L,D]
Please note: Due to local laws and regulations, the only mode of transport available to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu is by horse and carriage. Unfortunately, some neglectful owners cruelly mistreat their animals. While our guides always endeavour to arrange healthy, well-treated horses with responsible owners for our transport in Edfu, ultimately it is your decision if you wish to partake in the included sightseeing. If you do not wish to participate, you are welcome to explore Edfu independently, or stay on board the cruise to enjoy the ship’s facilities.
Special Experience: An early start this morning to cross the desert to the incredible Abu Simbel. The temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, as a monument to himself and his queen, Nefertari.
This afternoon we’ll relax on a cruise along the Nile on board a traditional felucca. [B,L,D]
Disembark Cruise: We disembark and explore Aswan.
Highlights of our sightseeing include the High Dam, the picturesque Temple of Isis on Philae Island, and the Unfinished Obelisk. We’ll then return to Cairo and enjoy a group dinner to farewell Egypt. [B,D]
We depart Egypt and fly to Israel. In Tel Aviv we’ll visit the Diaspora Museum before continuing to Jerusalem. We visit Israel's parliament, the Knesset and drive through Mea Shearim, and learn about the locals' unique lifestyle. [B]
Today we’ll discover Jerusalem, visiting the Israel Museum, Mount Herzl cemetery and the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial. [B]
We see more of Jerusalem today. Highlights include the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Jewish Quarter. This afternoon we explore Bethlehem, delving into its incredible history on a tour. [B,D]
Special Experience: In the evening we enjoy dinner and a spectacular Sound & Light Show at the Tower of David Museum.
On our way to Galilee we make a stop in Caesarea and see the excavations of the Crusader city and Roman port, and the restored amphitheatre before continuing to Haifa. We have a tour and see the stunning Summit of Mount Carmel. For the next two nights we will be staying in a Kibbutz, learning about life on an Israeli communal farm. [B,D]
After breakfast we head to Safed, known as a centre for Jewish mysticism.
Special Experience: Indulge in a tour and tasting of the Golan Winery.
Next we continue to the Golan Heights, seeing the abandoned Syrian bunkers and Kuneitra. [B,D]

Heading south past the Dead Sea, we stop to visit the fortification ruins of Masada. At Eilat we cross the border into Jordan and meet our new guide. We’ll arrive in the picturesque resort town of Aqaba on the Red Sea. [B]
Today we drive north to stunning Wadi Rum. We’ll head out for an exciting jeep tour, and then take a camel ride through the uniquely shaped landscape. We’ll spend the night in a Bedouin-style desert camp under a blanket of stars. [B,L,D]
On our way to Petra we’ll stop to visit “Little Petra”. With a history dating back some 9,000 years, it is one of the oldest archaeological sites in the Middle East. [B,D]
Today we visit the famous Lost City of Petra, an important junction for the Nabataean silk and spice trade routes. We’ll enter Petra through the Siq, an 800-metre-long gorge flanked by soaring cliffs, before we reach the incredible Treasury, hewn into the cliff face. [B,D]
This morning we continue north and visit Shobak Castle and the Crusader fortress of Kerak. We’ll then make our way to the lowest point on Earth - the Dead Sea. The salt content of the water here is four times that of most oceans, so you can float without even trying! [B,D]
We travel to Madaba and see the Greek Orthodox church of St George and the biblical site of Mt Nebo. This afternoon we’ll arrive in Amman, Jordan’s capital, and take a short city-sightseeing tour. [B,L,D]
