Bugaboos and Nimbus Heli-hiking Adventure

The Bugaboos are perhaps best known for their majestic spires coveted by elite climbers from around the world. Until recently, difficult access has prevented recreational hikers from enjoying this little-known treasure trove of hiking areas. The Purcell and Selkirk ranges are all but endless: deep river basins, meadows of wildflowers, icy crystalline lakes, ancient glaciers, bubbling creeks, and stunning ridge walks define the region. Based out of two very comfortable lodges, we are in for a unique adventure second to none. After breakfast each day, set out by helicopter with your guide to spend the day exploring the immense variety of landscapes. Choose classic alpine hikes or one of the adventure trails such as the Mt Nimbus Via Ferrata, The Skyladder, and the Conrad Glacier Adventure. Meal times are a delight with family style dinners and impromptu presentations by local personalities, adventurers and guides. With convenient pick up in Banff, this is a fantastic add on to any Canadian Rocky Mountains adventure and a definite bucket list experience. *3-night options are also available, based out of just one lodge. Day 1
Your transportation schedule will be included with your final confirmation. This morning you take an early morning transfer from your Banff (town centre) hotel to the Brewster Transportation Centre. We depart Banff this morning from the Brewster Transportation Centre for the (approximately) two and half hour coach transfer to the Bobbie Burns Helipad. Light breakfast snacks are provided. We make a stop in Lake Louise at the Post Hotel to collect additional guests. On arrival at the helipad we prepare for the quick flight to Bobbie Burns Lodge. Here we meet the Lodge Manager who assigns you your room and directs you to the equipment room where you are outfitted with all the necessary gear for the next few days. We enjoy lunch in the lodge. Following a helicopter safety talk, we fly up for an afternoon of heli-hiking in some of the world's most stunning mountains. Heli-flight back to the lodge later in the day for apres-hiking appetizers and relaxation. Dinner is served family style with the chance to get to know the staff and other guests.
Days 2-3
After an optional stretch class you can make your way up to the dining room for a delicious and hearty breakfast. Then we pack our lunches for the day from the selection of sandwiches, beverages, fruit, cookies and other items set out for you. You'll be divided into groups according to the activity level and adventure you've chosen. After breakfast each day, you set out by helicopter with your guide to spend the day exploring the immense variety of landscapes. Choose classic hiking, walking or one of the adventure trails such as the Mt Nimbus Via Ferrata and the Conrad Glacier Adventure. After a memorable day, fly back to the lodge for snacks and beverages; have a massage, take in the sauna or outdoor hot tub before dinnertime. (Approximate times are: 7:30 am morning stretch class, 8:00 am breakfast 9:00 am the first helicopter departs the lodge with the first group of hikers. Return to the lodge mid-afternoon and 7:00 pm dinner is served.)
Day 4
Join in the optional stretch class before breakfast. After selecting your picnic lunch items, prepare for your lodge to lodge excursion. Fly up to Grizzly Ridge and trek toward the iconic and luxurious Bugaboos Lodge where you finish hiking. You'll fly the rest of the way to your new destination to find your luggage and another remote, exclusive lodge tucked away in the Purcell Ranges. Follow a similar routine at the Bugaboos where apres-hiking snacks await after a day of hiking. Dinner follows.
Days 5-6
We follow the same pattern as in the Bobbie Burns. After an optional stretch class, make your way up to the dining room for a delicious and hearty breakfast. Then pack your lunch each day with your selection of sandwich, beverages, fruit, cookies and other items set out for you. Separate into groups according to the activity level and adventure you've chosen. After breakfast, again you'll set out by helicopter with your guide to spend the day exploring the immense variety of landscapes. Choose classic hiking, walking, or one of the adventure trails such as the Skyladder Via Ferrata and the Bugaboo Spires Glacier Trek. At the end of each day fly back to the comforts of the lodge for a well-deserved hot tub, massage and casual gourmet cuisine.
Day 7
Shortly after breakfast, we will prepare for departure with a heli flight to the Bugaboos Helipad. Once everyone is down at the helipad your ground transportation retraces the journey through Yoho and Banff National Parks to Banff and concludes at the Calgary International Airport. A packed lunch is provided for the return trip. We stop in Banff for guests staying on in the Rocky Mountains and a chance for ongoing guests to stretch their legs, before finishing up at the Calgary International Airport. Our arrival time will be approximately 3:30pm for those guests wishing to depart on evening flights.
