Experience the best winter activities and scenery of the high north whilst enjoying the comfort of Ongajok Mountain Lodge. Ongajok is a cosy, traditional Norwegian farm tucked away in the remote far north of Norway in Arctic Lapland. This is the heart of Finnmark, land of the Sami people. The farm has been converted into an eco-friendly centre for outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, ice fishing, reindeer-sledding and horse riding.
A night in a snow igloo is a magical highlight to be retold in years to come!

Enjoy your free afternoon exploring the town. If time permits, we recommended a visit to the Alta Cathedral.
After breakfast transfer to Ongajok Mountain Farm. After you have settled in, you will head out for a three hour snowmobile safari. See endless plains covered in snow, deep valleys and high mountains. In December and January you might have the chance to see the Northern Lights even during the afternoon. In February, March and April you will see the winter sky in astonishing colours from blue to pink. You will experience the Arctic wilderness & silence - something you couldn't do without a snowmobile.
Back at the farm, you can enjoy a sauna before a dinner of local produce.
Note: if you would like to arrive at Ongajok Mountain Lodge by horse sleigh (final 4 kms of the transfer), this can be arranged.
Harness your team of eager sled dogs and head across the snowy mountains. After an outdoor lunch by an open fire, continue through the magical frozen wilderness back to to Ongajok. Relax in the hot outdoor spa and sauna before another hearty dinner.
The first highlight of the day awaits upon your arrival to Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel: a sami experience with reindeer sledding. The Sami family will guide you through unforgettable events that highlight their past and present culture. You will meet reindeer, drive your own reindeer sled, and hear stories of the old days and the special singing that is a cornerstone of Sami culture. After the sled ride, you will warm up by the fire in a traditional Sami tent, or “lavvo”, and enjoy hot coffee, tasty cake and other small snacks.
Dinner is served in a beautiful Sami lavvo-shaped wooden restaurant before a magical night in an ice and snow room.
Note: It is possible to upgrade to a Art Suite.
After breakfast transfer back to Alta. We recommend a visit to Alta Museum with its exhibitions about research into the Northern Lights and Sami culture.
After breakfast, make your own way to your next adventure.
